How it works

Four steps from installation to completed files.

    Add BookHalo to Chrome

    Install BookHalo from the Chrome Web Store and keep it available from the toolbar.

    Sign in by email

    Enter the verification code sent to your email, then choose the language of the book.

    Open the book and start

    Open the book in Kindle Cloud Reader and press Start. Keep the same tab visible while BookHalo works.

    Review the ZIP

    Open the downloaded ZIP, send full_text.txt to your AI tool, and use the reference PDF to verify text and figures.

While BookHalo is working

  • Do not switch tabs or windows during processing. It can affect page capture.
  • Kindle sample and preview books are not supported.
  • Desktop Google Chrome or a Chromium-based browser is required.

  • Commercial use, redistribution, resale, or public sharing of outputs is prohibited.
  • Use BookHalo only with books you can lawfully access, for personal reading notes and study support.
  • Output files include a traceable Export ID to discourage unauthorized sharing.

Frequently asked questions

Which Kindle books can I use?

BookHalo supports 20 Kindle for Web domains across Japan, North America, Europe, Brazil, Mexico, India, and Australia. You can use books that open in a browser on one of those domains. Kindle app-only titles and sample books are not supported.

What files does BookHalo create?

BookHalo bundles OCR-created full_text.txt and a reference PDF of the processed pages into one ZIP file.

Which OCR languages are supported?

English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, and Italian normally run locally in Chrome, with server fallback if local OCR fails. Japanese uses server OCR for vertical and horizontal text.

Can I use the files with NotebookLM or ChatGPT?

Yes, for personal reading notes and study support. You should also follow the terms of the AI service you use.

Can I try BookHalo for free?

Yes. The free plan includes 20 books per month with 3 pages each. The full plan uses regional monthly pricing for 10 books with up to 1,000 pages each.

Can I use BookHalo on a phone or in the Kindle app?

No. BookHalo is a desktop Chrome extension and does not run in mobile browsers, on tablets, or inside the Kindle app.
